Imperial Wharf

Fulham, London, UK 1998

Today Imperial Wharf is an iconic building on river themes.  These was my  first project  that  I  have involved  while  I  worked  at  Broadway  Malyan. It  was  a  very valuable  experience  to  see  and  learn how public consultations  works,  how architects  interact  with  local  residence.

I worked  on  Master  plan  for  outline  planning  application  on  project  that is  large and  well-known  to many  people  around  London.  Public consultation  exercise was an  event  that  gave  me  opportunity  to learn,  explain  to  local  residence  what  is the  project  is  all  about,  how  big  it is  what  it  consist  of.  I am  very  proud  that  I have  worked  on  an iconic  landmark  project,  that  not  only  aesthetically pleasing from  the  river  and  land  but  uplifts  the  spirit  of  people  living  in it  and  local architecture  buildings.

The  overall  master plan  was  also  developed  with  full  knowledge  of  site  constraints,  both  local planning  issues  and  local  pressure  groups  and  wider planning  issues.  Central  Government guidelines on  use  of  brown  field  sites, and also  the  existing  urban  fabric  which  had  a  great  influence  on  the scaling and massing  of  the  proposal  being  lower  scale  towards  the  existing  streets, in Tinmouth Street,  Lindrop  Street,  etc. and  rising  up  in  scale  adjacent  to  the existing  Chelsea  Harbour development.
