I have joined a very large team and was given opportunity to design the penthouse apartments. I was also involved in optimising structure, parking, cycle and M-Bike parking of basement floors, and preparing drawings for tender. 146 Apartments, heralded as a new landmark in London, St George Wharf at the former Effra site in Vauxhall is being developed as a prestigious 1.4m Sqf mixed-use riverside scheme on the south side of the Thames in view of Parliament.
The development’s distinctive silhouette will be recognised as a feature of the Thames skyline. The striking prow shaped forms cascading from glass residential towers are designed to maximise the unique views of the river from each apartment and provide deep terraces to the prestigious penthouses.
At 24 storeys, the tallest of the 5 towers will be one of the river’s most prominent buildings in its own right.
The shops, restaurants and offices along the landscaped riverside walk will be accessible by train, underground, bus and river-bus, alighting at the new pier to St George’s Wharf. A 400 bed hotel fronting Wandsworth Road completes the scheme.
